An Osteoporosis Risk Questionnaire for Women

Please answer this six-question test. The test was formulated after reviewing the cases of hundreds of women to help determine who should have a bone density scan. The test has an accuracy rate of about 80 per cent.

  1. Question 1: Are you Caucasian or Asian?

    If yes, score 5 points.

  2. Question 2: Do you take estrogen?

    If no, score 1 point.

  3. Question 3: Do you have rheumatoid arthritis?

    If yes, score 4 points.

  4. Question 4: Have you fractured a wrist, hip or spinal bone from a minor fall?

    Score 4 points for each fracture.

  5. Question 5: What is your age range?

    Take the first number of your age and multiply by 3
    (Example: 67 years=6x3=18)

  6. Question 6: What is your approximate weight?

    Take your weight and divide by 10
    (Example: 145 lbs/10=14)
